About Loon: Loon is on a mission to connect people everywhere by inventing and integrating audacious technology. A network of balloons traveling on the edge of space, Loon combines advancements in materials science, atmospheric modeling, machine learning, and communications systems to expand connectivity to unserved and underserved areas around the world. Loon is the newest independent company within Alphabet.
Overview: Our computational challenges are so big, complex and unique we can't just purchase off-the-shelf hardware, we've got to make it ourselves. As a Design Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.
The Communication Electrical Engineering team develops the hardware which supports Loon’s communication mission of providing direct to handset LTE service from the stratosphere. The CAD/PCB Design Engineer plays a crucial role in helping the team, and broader Loon, perform layout of high-performance PCBs and support successful fab out. You'll guide the team on best practices for all aspects of physical PCB design and overall CAD hygiene. You have experience in the layout of large mixed signal assemblies and managing relationships with external CAD vendors and PCB librarians.
